This SOT (Class 3 / Class 2 application) will not generate a formal visit by the ATF, but our ATF inspectors have asked us in the past to formally review the following information within the Federal Firearms Regulations that are specific to these NFA items.

The SOT license costs $500 per year and is due for renewal every July 1st. This fee is not prorated. So, if you pay $500 in January, you owe $500 again on July 1st. We know it can be difficult to avoid paying that $500 twice within a few months’ time. This can be avoided by starting your business on July 1st. We had to pay twice our first year.
